Griffin Hook (He/Him/His) is a Canadian composer based in Thornhill, Ontario. Known for writing music that is cinematic and imaginative, Griffin’s unique compositional style blends traditional concert band form with the creative energy of film scores to create pieces that are exciting and enjoyable for musicians, ensembles, and audiences alike.

Griffin has an accessible and engaging collection of works that have been performed in several provinces across the country and around the globe. With his work described as fresh and animated, Griffin strives to create new music for band that highlights the beauty of Canadian nature, alongside exploring unique themes and concepts that evoke emotion.

Griffin is the winner of the 2024 Howard Cable Memorial Prize in Composition awarded by the Canadian Band Association, a winner of the 2024 WASBE International Composition Contest as an emerging composer, winner of the 2024 CFMTA Student Composer Contest, and had his scores displayed at the 2024 Midwest Clinic. Griffin is also a three-time ORMTA Music Writing Competition Winner, two-time Kiwanis Original Composition Contest Winner, had his music featured as part of the Oakville Film Festival on multiple occasions, alongside winning other awards and honourable mentions in competitions at city and provincial levels for over a decade.
